Installing the Nectar Toolbar gives is a great way to boost your points under the Nectar Loyalty Program. Nectar state there is “No SPYWARE or ADWARE and Nectar do not collect information on your personal web searches”

In my opinion there are three main benefits of using the Nectar toolbar:

Firstly, you receive 100 Nectar points just for downloading and installing it
Secondly, it gives you points for performing online searches
Thirdly, it highlights when you are on a website which is part of the Nectar loyalty program

You can also install the Nectar toolbar on a number of computers linked to the same account. I have done this with my Laptop, Desktop and my machine in the Office. 100 free Nectar points is such an easy bonus it should be taken advantage of by anyone and everyone with a Nectar card.

Regarding the search functionality of the Nectar Toolbar, for every 2 searches you make you will receive a Nectar loyalty program point. It works by installing a search box at the top of your browser (you may well have one of these installed already and the Nectar Toolbar works in exactly the same way). When you type a search query in the box it will take you to the corresponding results page in Yahoo. This is somewhat of an oversight in my opinion, I would like the option to have my searches powered by Google, but I’m not complaining. There is a maximum of 50 points a month available through using the search function of the Nectar Toolbar.

My favorite function of the Nectar Toolbar is that it highlights every time you visit a site where you can earn Nectar loyalty program points. The reason I like this is because there are probably a lot more merchants than you realise where you can collect Nectar. And you don’t need to remember who is on the list any more because it tells you – and it updates itself – how clever is that!?

I would like to see other loyalty programs (namely Clubcard and Airmiles) bring out their own tool bars for the same purpose as the Nectar Toolbar. The Airmiles program in Canada has one, although this is not part of the UK Airmiles program, this is different.
